What is The Royal Rangers?
Royal Rangers is a pathway to adventure. As a Ranger, a boy will learn many outdoor and personal skills that will be helpful to him for years to come. He will have the opportunity to learn about the great outdoors, study wildlife, and learn other skills valuable in the four ways a boy grows: physically, spiritually, mentally, and socially.
Royal Rangers will develop life-long friendships and find opportunities to work together through the patrol system. The patrol system enables a boy and the members of his patrol to work together as a team to accomplish great things.
Royal Rangers will give a boy the opportunity to earn exciting advancements on the trail to earning the highest award in Royal Rangers, the Gold Medal of Achievement. Boys will learn the importance of setting goals and develop the self-confidence that comes from accomplishing those goals.
The Royal Ranger Pledge and Motto
There is no pledge to the Royal Rangers flag, but there is a Royal Rangers Pledge:
With God’s help, I will do my best to serve God, my church, and my fellowman; to live by the Ranger Code; to make the Golden Rule my daily rule.
Royal Rangers also have a motto, which is:
Ready!
The meaning of the motto is:
Ready for anything! Ready to work, play, serve, worship, live and obey God's Word!
The Royal Ranger Divisions
- Ranger Kids — the trail to fun and adventure — is an exciting program for boys in kindergarten, first and second grades. Boys in this age group participate in great fun and excitement that will allow boys to develop their interests and needs as well as mold their character.
- Discovery Rangers is a fun and exciting program for boys in third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade. Not only does the boy get to discover great indoor and outdoor activities, he will get to make many new friends. Being a Discovery Ranger is another step toward growing into a man of God in four ways.
- As Adventure Rangers, sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade young men have the chance to do as these men. A Ranger is one who explores new frontiers, so the Adventure Ranger will explore new areas as he learns the history of Royal Rangers and takes advantage of opportunities for the future.
- Expedition Rangers represents ninth through twelfth-grade boys. This is considered a high-action-packed adventure trail in which the Expedition Ranger is further challenged by advanced camping and camp craft skill opportunities. These extreme activities offer boys in this age group tremendous opportunity to become more self-reliant and develop a confidence and a greater appreciation of God.
